Especially for new residents .....

We have two defibs on site, please familiarise yourselves with where they are.

If you suspect someone is having a cardiac arrest it's still important to call 999 first. If possible, get someone else to go and fetch the nearest defib.

Being able to use one of these things might mean you save someone's life.

When you call 999, the emergency operator will advise you what to do next. They will know we have a defib on site and might ask you to use it whilst an ambulance is on its way.

You don't need training to use one. As soon as you open it, a robot voice tells you what to do. However, it might be useful to watch this short video below from an emergency worker who explains how they work.

If you are ever asked to fetch a defib by 999 operators, when the incident is over, please let someone from the RA know. We're responsible for changing consumables and putting in back on line with the ambulance service.
