Phone calls from head office update

Just before Chritmas, some residents said they were getting calls from head office accounts which we thought was unusual (normally everything is in writing).

We met someone from head office to get to the bottom of this. It seems that a large number of people who we represented at the pitch fee tribunal earlier this year still haven't paid their increase.

When we represented you at the pitch fee tribunal earlier this year your chair and secretary successfully argued that there had been deterioration of the site and amenities and the judge ordered that the 13.4% increase from April 2023 should be decreased to 9.4% which is around 30% off.

Regency wrote to everyone in August 2024 asking us to pay a lump sum to catch up with payments from April 2023. We should have also increased our ongoing monthly payments by 9.4%.

The office is concerned that around 40 people still haven’t paid the arrears or changed their ongoing monthly payment to reflect the 9.4% increase. They’re not allowed to give us names so we’re writing to everyone with some general advice. Of course if you have paid you can ignore this letter.

We are aware that when Regency wrote to everyone in August, some people’s statements had errors on them so we asked Regency to check bills and re-issue them. But this was back in August so we would have expected this to have been resolved by now. But regardless of any errors with the back payment figure, we should have still increased our ongoing monthly payment by 9.4%.

If you’re one of the 40 people who haven’t paid the 9.4%, it’s essential that you catch up ASAP. If the reason for you not paying is because you still feel there are mistakes on your bill then please pop in and see Sue in the office so she can work things out.

All the best

James

PS. Just a word of caution. Our pitch fee was separately increased in 2024 by 4%. This should have been payable from October 2024. If you are disputing this year’s increase, it’s important that you don’t accidentally start paying it because that signals you agree to it and the tribunal route will no longer be available to you.
