Regency is pressing ahead with the gas changeover, despite strong opposition from residents. Many people are worried about how fast it is happening and the pressure being put on them. Because of this, the Residents Association has taken the issue to the tribunal.

The Residents’ Association stands firmly for fairness and due process. If the court ultimately finds the changeover to be lawful, we will work constructively with Regency to ensure the rollout is handled responsibly and with minimal disruption. However, at this stage, we believe the process lacks transparency and is being carried out incorrectly. On Friday 31 October, we applied to the court for an interim order to pause the rollout until the tribunal has ruled on its fairness and legality. We will update residents as soon as we receive a response.

In the meantime, Regency has been urging residents to sign up with Calor. Many people feel intimidated. They support the RA but are worried about losing their gas supply. Now, in a further twist of events, Regency says FloGas has offered a better deal than Calor. After pushing people to sign with Calor, they are now advising residents they can cancel those contracts and switch to FloGas instead. It is a complete mess. The confusion and stress have been caused entirely by Regency’s head office, who have rushed ahead without proper planning.

Regency still says they will stop selling LPG on 25 November. The RA is asking the court to delay this until the case is heard.

A lot of residents have asked what they should do. They support the RA but are worried about being left without gas. Our advice is to sit tight for now. There are still three weeks to go. If the court agrees to pause the rollout, you will still be able to sign up for gas later.

Finally, there are a lot of very angry people on site who have asked how they can complain. You can complain direct to the company.
