Worrying letter from Head Office

While committee members were distributing flyers around the site yesterday to inform residents about our upcoming general meeting regarding the company’s gas bottle proposals, many residents came out to express concern. They had just received a letter from Regency - less than an hour earlier - which gave the impression that the gas bottle changeover was already proceeding.

We have since written to Head Office to strongly object to the contents of that letter and have requested urgent clarification. The misleading communication has caused considerable worry and frustration among residents.

Dear Ms Jeffery-Chipps,

We are writing to express our strongest possible objection to the content and tone of the letter hand-delivered to all residents this afternoon.
The letter states that Regency Living has entered into a formal consultation period with the Residents’ Association regarding proposed changes to the management of gas bottles on the site. However, it simultaneously informs residents that the process for ordering and replacing gas bottles is changing - implying that a final decision has already been made.

This directly undermines the integrity of the consultation process. It gives the impression of predetermined decision-making, which breaches your legal duty to consult in good faith. The premature announcement has caused widespread confusion and distress across the site, particularly among our elderly and less able-bodied residents. Many are now worried they will be required to source their own gas bottles, despite having received no further details or assurances - including those promised in the consultation materials shared with the Residents’ Association.

We urge Regency Living to issue a clear and immediate correction to all residents, clarifying that no final decision has been made and that the consultation is still ongoing. This is essential to restore trust, reduce unnecessary panic, and ensure that residents feel their views are genuinely being considered.

We look forward to your prompt response and action.

Yours sincerely,

Dunton Park Residents' Association
